Patiala Gears Up for Fourth Military Literature Festival Under Heritage Banner
Patiala is poised to host the highly anticipated fourth edition of the Military Literature Festival, proudly presented as part of the Patiala Heritage Festival. This two-day event is scheduled to commence at 10 am on February 12 at the historic Khalsa College, marking a significant cultural and educational milestone for the district.
Open Invitation and Leadership Support
Deputy Commissioner Varjit Walia has warmly extended an open invitation to all district residents, encouraging active participation in what he describes as an enriching and educational experience for students and the general public alike. The festival is being meticulously organized by the district administration in collaboration with the Military Literature Festival Association, under the expert guidance of Lieutenant General (retd) Chetinder Singh, AVSM, SM, VSM. Adding to the prestige, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh will formally inaugurate the event, underscoring its importance to the state.
Comprehensive Preparations and Diverse Program
Ahead of the festival, nodal officer and ADC (Urban Development) Ismat Vijay Singh, accompanied by RTO Babandeep Singh Walia, conducted a thorough visit to the venue to review and oversee final preparations, ensuring a seamless execution. According to officials, the festival promises a rich and varied program designed to captivate attendees.
The event will feature engaging panel discussions, inspiring narratives of valour and sacrifice, and impressive exhibitions of military equipment. Special segments include the felicitation of Veer Naris (war widows), dynamic martial performances, solemn floral tributes, and an exhilarating brave-heart motorcycle rally. Visitors will also have the opportunity to witness archery demonstrations and competitions, adding an interactive element to the festivities.
Recruitment Guidance and Institutional Legacy
In a bid to support career aspirations, counselling desks will be set up to provide detailed guidance on recruitment opportunities in the Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Punjab Police. Additionally, a food court has been established at the venue to enhance the overall visitor experience.
Deputy Commissioner Varjit Walia highlighted that, following an announcement by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the district administration has taken a special initiative to institutionalize this event. The festival aims to acquaint the youth with the rich legacy of the armed forces and motivate them to pursue careers in the defence services, fostering a deeper connection with national security and heritage.

With this fourth edition, Patiala proudly becomes the first district to successfully host the Military Literature Festival for four consecutive years, further cementing its prominent place on Punjab's cultural and intellectual map.
