As Pune gears up to celebrate Mother's Day, the local scene is evolving beyond traditional brunches. This year, the city is witnessing a surge in experience-led events, ranging from sunrise pottery workshops and camping nights to forest sound-healing sessions and curated 'mom's day off' retreats.
Shift Towards Experiential Celebrations
Pune's cafes, art spaces, and wellness communities are offering fresh ways to celebrate motherhood by prioritising 'quality time' over material gifts. Stride Tribe, a local run club, is organising an open-for-all 3km walk, run, and jog this Sunday at Koregaon Park. The event aims to bring families together through movement. 'We are fitness enthusiasts and see this as an interesting way to spend time together. I plan to join the walk with my mom,' said Saloni Chedda, a resident of Kalyaninagar.
Pottery and Art Workshops
For those seeking a slower pace, Ecoville—the farm is hosting a Mother's Day special 'clay date.' Participants will learn the basics of pottery and craft their own ceramic bells. 'Mother's Day experiences have consistently done well for us because people are increasingly looking to gift time instead of just material objects,' said Rutuja Achalare, founder of Ecoville. 'The idea is to help people slow down, disconnect from routine, and reconnect through art and nature. Many mothers enjoy these workshops because they get to explore a new art form and simply take a pause in a calming environment.'
Adventure and Speed
For mothers with a need for speed, Flying Gokaarts in Katraj is offering a 'Mother's Day Go-Karting' package. For a flat rate of Rs800, mothers and children get five rounds each, a complimentary mojito, and a 10% discount on food. 'My mom and I both enjoy road trips, so we decided to go go-karting this year. It's a great deal that covers the drive, food, and mocktails,' said Sanya Shinde, a resident of Pashan.
Creating Lasting Memories
The shift towards experiential gifting is particularly popular among younger families who want to create lasting memories. Riya Sharma, a resident of Baner, is combining a physical gift with an activity. 'I plan to gift my mom a customized perfume and a sipper, but the highlight of our day will be a professional photo session we've planned together,' she said. Whether through a heart-pumping run or a quiet morning at a pottery wheel, Pune's 2026 Mother's Day celebrations reflect a growing desire for meaningful, shared experiences.
