The picturesque hill station of Shillong transforms into a vibrant celebration of music, culture, and nature as the two-day Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2025 commences on Friday. The event will take over the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Polo Grounds with an impressive lineup of international superstars, regional artists, and cultural attractions.
International Stars and Local Talent Shine
The festival celebrates the magical bloom of pink cherry blossoms against Shillong's characteristic pine greenery, creating a stunning visual spectacle. The first day features headline performances by international chart-toppers The Script and Jason Derulo, promising an unforgettable musical experience for attendees.
Adding to the opening night excitement, dance and entertainment sensation Nora Fatehi will perform a special set. The festival also showcases exceptional local artists including Dappest & adL, Zephyrtone, Walter Wahlang, Khasi Bloodz, Prismer, ALIVE, Larger Than 90, and Bending Waves, ensuring a diverse musical journey.
Second Day Highlights and Special Tributes
Saturday's festivities will feature international heavyweights Tyga and Aqua, alongside a headline experience by global producer DJ Diplo. The northeast's renowned artists will also take center stage with performances by Meba Ofilia, Girish & The Chronicles, Ahaia, G Hills Finest, Finding Mero, Dalariti, and ARIUS.
The festival will conclude with a special tribute to Zubeen Garg, honoring his significant contributions to the music world and the region's cultural landscape.

According to the director of the state tourism department, the festival extends far beyond the main stages. Visitors can participate in numerous activities including the Cherry Blossom Arm Fight, Karaoke Contest, Mechanical Bull rides, Zipline adventures, Graffiti Contest, and Cherry Blossom Cosplay Competition.
Food enthusiasts can explore a wide range of local food stalls showcasing Meghalaya's culinary diversity, while craft displays and merchandise booths highlight the region's creative spirit. The festival offers something for every visitor, from music lovers to adventure seekers and food enthusiasts.
While Polo Ground serves as the central venue, the Japan Arena at Ward's Lake celebrates the cultural bond between Meghalaya and Japan. This special area features Japanese art, music, cuisine, and traditional performances, providing visitors with an authentic glimpse into Japan's rich heritage against the beautiful backdrop of Ward's Lake.
