Uttarakhand CM Reveals 2027 Kumbh Mela Schedule

In a historic gathering on the sacred banks of the Ganga River, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has officially announced the complete schedule for the 2027 Haridwar Kumbh Mela. This landmark event marked the first time in history that preparations for the world's largest religious gathering were discussed directly on the ghats themselves.

Historic Meeting with Spiritual Leaders

The significant announcement came during an interactive session with Acharyas and saints representing all 13 Akharas in Haridwar. Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that the state government would prioritize the traditions and requirements of the Akharas while planning the massive event. He actively sought suggestions from the spiritual leaders, ensuring their voices would shape the preparations.

This ghat-side discussion represented a groundbreaking approach to Kumbh planning, bringing government officials and spiritual leaders together in the very environment where the sacred rituals would take place. The Chief Minister assured that the government aims to make arrangements more systematic while aligning with expectations from the saint community.

Comprehensive Preparations Underway

The Uttarakhand government has already initiated large-scale planning for the 2027 Kumbh Mela, with Chief Minister Dhami confirming coordination with central and state security agencies. Multiple departments including local police, NDRF, PAC, Health Department, and Fire Department will handle safety and emergency response measures.

Officials who have previously managed Kumbh Melas will provide crucial expertise in crowd management and traffic planning. The government has also begun work on essential infrastructure projects focusing on waste management, drainage systems, and ghat cleanliness.

CM Dhami projected that the 2027 Kumbh would attract significantly larger footfall compared to both the 2010 and 2021 editions. The Acharyas and saints present at the meeting welcomed the government's collaborative approach and pledged their full cooperation as preparations move forward.

The historic meeting concluded with CM Dhami sharing a meal with the spiritual leaders, strengthening the bond between the administration and religious communities. The gathering was also attended by Rajya Sabha MP Kalpana Saini, Haridwar MLA Madan Kaushik, Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan, Roorkee MLA Pradeep Batra, Haridwar Mayor Kiran Jaisal, Roorkee Mayor Anita Devi Agrawal, BJP state vice president Swami Yatishwaranand, along with senior district and police officials.
