In a remarkable display of faith and devotion, the Yellamma Devi Temple, situated atop Yellammanagudda in Savadatti taluk, has collected offerings worth a staggering Rs 11.1 crore over six rounds of hundi counting since July 2025. This substantial collection underscores the temple's status as one of the most revered and financially significant religious sites in Karnataka, drawing lakhs of devotees from across the nation who seek blessings and fulfill vows.

Breakdown of the Temple's Wealth

According to detailed reports from temple authorities, the offerings comprise a diverse mix of valuables. The bulk of the collection is in cash, amounting to Rs 9.9 crore, which forms the foundation of the temple's financial resources. Additionally, devotees have contributed 635 grams of gold ornaments, valued at approximately Rs 74.9 lakh, and 21.2 kilograms of silver ornaments, worth around Rs 38.6 lakh. These precious metal offerings highlight the deep-seated tradition of expressing gratitude to the deity Yellamma through tangible gifts after wishes are granted.

Rigorous Counting Process and Temple Management

The counting of these offerings was conducted with meticulous care and transparency by a collaborative team of officials. This group included representatives from the muzrai department, the Belagavi Deputy Commissioner's office, the tahsildar's office, the temple administration itself, and banking personnel. Nagaratna Cholin, deputy secretary of the Yellamma Temple Development Authority, emphasized that all collected funds are securely deposited into the temple's bank account post-counting. She further explained that the money is strategically allocated for essential purposes, such as temple development projects, payment of staff salaries, covering electricity bills, and managing other administrative expenses to ensure the temple's smooth operation and upkeep.
