CGWB's Groundwater Training Program in Patna Wraps Up with Conservation Focus

The Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) has successfully concluded a three-day training program in Patna. This event focused on sustainable development and management of groundwater resources. It ended on Thursday with a strong emphasis on the wise use of groundwater for various needs across the state.

Comprehensive Training for Participants

The program delivered extensive training to all attendees. Participants learned about groundwater level monitoring and groundwater quality management. They also explored different techniques for managing groundwater effectively.

Manoj Kumar, the chief engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), served as the chief guest. He addressed the gathering during the valedictory session. Kumar stated that the training proved highly beneficial for engineers and scientists. These professionals are actively involved in executing groundwater-related schemes.

Valuable Data and Conservation Efforts

Sashi Bhusan Choudhary, the chief engineer of the state minor water resources department, also spoke. He highlighted the immense value of data generated by the CGWB. This data comes from detailed studies and helps in augmenting groundwater resources in the region.

Rajeev Ranjan Shukla, the regional director of CGWB, took a significant step. He administered a water conservation pledge to all participants. This action reinforced the program's commitment to sustainable practices.

Diverse Participation and Practical Learning

The event saw participation from 23 officers representing various state departments. These included the minor water resources department, public health engineering department, and directorate of industries. Officers from the agriculture, urban development, and rural development departments also attended.

Students and research scholars joined from several institutions. Patna Science College, T P S College, and the Central University of Karnataka were among them.

During the training, participants got acquainted with the latest techniques in groundwater investigations. The program included practical field demonstrations. These covered geophysical exploration and soil infiltration tests, providing hands-on experience.

Key Speakers and Their Insights

Other notable speakers addressed the gathering as well. Anil Kumar, head of the geology department at Patna University, shared his expertise. David Kumar Chaturvedi, director of the Jal Jeevan Hariyali Mission, also spoke. Ram Pravesh Singh, a retired chief engineer from the state rural development department, contributed to the discussions.

The training program underscored the critical need for sustainable groundwater management. It equipped participants with essential knowledge and skills to tackle water resource challenges in the region.
