Deputy Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ghadir Nezamipour, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday evening, following the conclusion of the 16th BRICS National Security Advisers' Meeting chaired by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
Diplomatic Engagement After BRICS NSA Meeting
The Iranian Embassy in India confirmed the meeting on X, stating that Nezamipour met with PM Modi after the high-level security forum. Earlier, Nezamipour also held talks with NSA Ajit Doval.
Tensions with UAE Surface at BRICS Forum
During the BRICS NSA meeting on Tuesday, tensions between Iran and the United Arab Emirates escalated sharply. Nezamipour formally accused the UAE of direct involvement in military strikes against Iran, allegedly conducted in coordination with the US and Israel.
In a statement, the Iranian Embassy said Nezamipour rejected allegations made by the UAE representative against Tehran and instead launched a counter-accusation. He asserted that the UAE not only allowed its territory to be used as a staging ground for attacks but also actively participated in operations targeting Iranian infrastructure.
Allegations of UAE Complicity
Nezamipour stated, “The entire world witnessed that the United States and the Zionist regime were the initiators of the aggression and the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz. Part of these attacks were launched from bases located on the territory of the United Arab Emirates. Nevertheless, instead of condemning these hostile actions, the UAE directly participated in the aggression and allowed its territory to be used as a platform for attacks against Iran's civilian infrastructure, schools, and hospitals.”
He urged the UAE delegation to shift its policy and warned against “propaganda and adventurism.”
Context of West Asia Hostilities
The remarks came after the conclusion of initial technical talks under a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at ending hostilities in West Asia between the US and Iran. Both sides agreed to establish a High-Level Committee and a roadmap toward a final agreement within 60 days.
