Trump said India has a great friend in the White House and asserted that the US would help India if it came under attack while Modi remained its leader. Praising Modi as a tough negotiator and trader, Trump recalled the massive “Howdy Modi” event in Houston and expressed his desire to visit India in the future.

The two leaders also discussed energy cooperation and maritime security. Modi raised concerns over the safety of Indian seafarers following the deaths of three Indians near the Strait of Hormuz, while Trump described seafaring as a “rough profession” and stressed continued cooperation on maritime issues.

Defence and Trade Ties

The bilateral talks also covered defence and trade ties, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between India and the United States. Trump reiterated his administration's commitment to enhancing bilateral trade and investment flows.
