Australia: Second Stop
From Indonesia, Modi will travel to Australia on July 8. In Canberra, he will meet with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to review progress on the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Key agenda items include the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) and defense cooperation. Modi will also interact with the Indian diaspora in Sydney.
New Zealand: Final Destination
Modi will conclude his tour with a visit to New Zealand on July 10-11. In Wellington, he will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Chris Hipkins, focusing on expanding collaboration in renewable energy, education, and agriculture. The Indian diaspora in New Zealand, numbering over 250,000, is expected to welcome him warmly.
Strategic Significance
The visit underscores India's growing engagement with the Indo-Pacific region. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the tour will "deepen India's strategic partnerships and open new avenues for cooperation."
