Trump Dismisses Renewed Iran Conflict, Highlights Kill List Claim
US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that he does not foresee a resumption of hostilities with Iran, even after declaring the ceasefire agreement effectively null. Speaking at a press conference after the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkiye, Trump asserted he is the primary target on Tehran's kill list. He said, 'I don't think it's going to start again. I think it's going to go very quickly. They hit a couple of ships, and so we hit them much harder. When they hit, we hit 10 times harder.'
Trump on Personal Safety: 'Number One' on Kill List
When questioned about threats from Iran, Trump downplayed the danger, calling the presidency 'very dangerous.' He remarked, 'You should have told me that years ago; everybody wouldn't have run, it's a very dangerous profession, no, I'm number one on the kill list for Iran; they're lovely people.' He added, 'But I don't really care because I'm doing my job, and I'm doing it, I hope, better than anybody's ever done it.'
Ceasefire 'Over' for Trump; Diplomatic Deal Unlikely
Trump indicated a growing reluctance to pursue a diplomatic resolution with Iran. 'I think more than anything else is I got to know them -- and I'm not sure I want to make a deal with them. We can play games, but I'm not sure I want to make a deal. Let's just finish the job,' he stated. He also characterized Iranian leadership as 'a little loco' and 'scum,' asserting that they have acted this way for 47 years and must be stopped for the good of the country and the world.
Military Action Would Be Brief, Says Trump
The US President maintained that any future military engagement would be swift and enhance regional stability. 'I think anything that happens is going to be over very quickly and will only make it safer, including for oil. Oil is going to be very free, very free, very easy, and it's going to happen very fast,' Trump said. He also noted a current 'gusher of oil' and stressed that the United States is 'not looking for long-term' conflict with Iran.
Earlier Declaration: Peace Process 'Over'
Earlier, Trump announced that the ceasefire agreement with Iran was effectively finished. He stated, 'To me, I think it's over. I don't want to deal with them anymore. They're scum... They're led by sick people... I'll speak to our negotiators. They want to negotiate - they're good people... but they have to come back to me. As far as I'm concerned, it's just a waste of time dealing with them.'
