Burdwan BLOs Set Example by Serving Notices on Themselves
Two Booth Level Officers from East Burdwan have demonstrated remarkable professional integrity. They personally served election hearing notices on themselves. This action highlights their dedication to electoral transparency.
Deb Sankar Chatterjee's Commitment
Deb Sankar Chatterjee works as a life science teacher at RGM Institution. He serves as the BLO for Booth 165 in Bhramankol under Ketugram II Block. Although a permanent resident of his booth area, he currently lives in Madhaitala Chourangi, Katwa.
On January 10, Chatterjee delivered a 'logical discrepancies' notice to his wife. He personally uploaded her photograph for the electoral process. On Wednesday evening, he conducted his wife's hearing himself. Through the BLO App, he later discovered his own hearing was scheduled for January 21.
Accordingly, he delivered the notice to himself. He stated he would upload his own photograph on Thursday. Chatterjee emphasized that despite proper delivery of the notice to his wife, she was still called for the hearing. This shows the thoroughness of the electoral review process.
SK Abid Hossain's Professionalism
SK Abid Hossain teaches at Shahjadpur FP School. He serves as the BLO for Part 266 under Memari II Block in the Monteshwar Assembly constituency. Hossain resides in his own booth area, specifically in Jhikra village within Memari II Block.
On January 10, Hossain delivered his own 'logical discrepancies' notice. He uploaded his photograph himself without any external assistance. His hearing is scheduled for January 16 at his own booth location.
Explaining the reason for the discrepancy, Abid noted a spelling variation in his father's name. In some records, it appears as 'Sekh MD Azim', while his identity documents show 'SK MD Azim'. This minor difference of two letters triggered the electoral review.
Both BLOs are teachers by profession. Their actions underscore a strong commitment to their electoral duties. They ensure every procedural step is followed meticulously, even when it involves their own families or themselves.
This incident sets a powerful example for other election officials across the region. It reinforces the importance of personal accountability in maintaining electoral integrity. The East Burdwan district administration may well view their conduct as a model for future operations.
