Dhanbad Initiates Pre-SIR Electoral Roll Verification Process
The pre-Special Intensive Revision process for electoral rolls has started in Dhanbad district. This preliminary exercise aims to strengthen the accuracy and transparency of voter records. Sub-divisional officer and electoral registration officer Lokesh Barange confirmed the development.
Officials Launch Preliminary Verification Drive
Lokesh Barange explained that the ongoing exercise represents a preliminary verification drive across the district. He spoke to media representatives about the current activities. Officials are matching the existing voter list with voter data from 2003.
Barange clarified that this current work only constitutes pre-SIR activity. At this stage, officials focus on collecting and screening data. He stated that they are merely gathering information currently. The process will gain momentum once the Election Commission issues further guidelines.
Ground-Level Verification by BLOs
The mapping of voters with their respective areas has already commenced. This step ensures accuracy in electoral records. Booth-level officers have received deployment orders to collect and verify voter-related data at ground level.
Their exercise includes checking essential details like names and addresses. Officials are also filtering voter photographs in the electoral roll during the screening process. They flag voter records containing unclear, dark, or unidentifiable photographs for further verification.
According to the electoral registration officer, this photograph verification step proves crucial. It prevents discrepancies and ensures proper voter identification during election processes.
Continuous Process for Electoral Integrity
Barange emphasized the importance of this ongoing exercise. He explained that voter list revision represents a continuous process conducted by the Election Commission. This systematic approach maintains the integrity of the electoral system.
The officer issued clear directives to all BLOs and staff engaged in screening. He instructed them to carry out their duties with diligence and accuracy. The district administration expects this pre-SIR exercise to establish a strong foundation.
