ECI Launches 'Book-a-Call with BLO' for Voter Queries in 48 Hours
ECI's New 'Book-a-Call with BLO' Service for Voters

In a significant move to enhance voter accessibility, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has rolled out a new digital service named 'Book-a-Call with BLO'. This initiative is designed to simplify the process for voters to get assistance related to the electoral roll and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

How the New Voter Service Works

The facility allows citizens to schedule a direct phone call with their designated Booth Level Officer (BLO). To use this service, voters must first log in to the official ECI portal at voters.eci.gov.in or through the ECINET mobile application. Authentication requires the user's registered mobile number.

For those not already registered, the sign-up process is straightforward. It involves providing one's mobile number, verifying it with an OTP, and entering a name. Once logged in, users can select the 'Book-a-Call with BLO' option. They will then need to enter their EPIC number or a reference number to confirm the details of their assigned polling station and BLO.

After submitting a callback request, the system ensures that the Booth Level Officer will contact the voter within a guaranteed timeframe of 48 hours. This provides a concrete solution for resolving queries without the need for physical visits.

Alternative Access Without EPIC Number

Understanding that not all voters may have their EPIC number handy, the ECI has provided an alternative access method. Individuals can still use the service by manually entering key location details. This includes selecting their state, district, assembly constituency, and specific booth information to identify the correct BLO and proceed with booking a call.

Official Urges Voters to Utilize the Facility

Chief Electoral Officer for the state, Navdeep Rinwa, has actively encouraged the electorate to adopt this new system. He stated, "We urged all voters to use this facility for queries related to the Special Intensive Revision." This endorsement highlights the commission's focus on making the electoral roll update process more interactive and voter-friendly.

The introduction of 'Book-a-Call with BLO' marks a pivotal step in leveraging technology for democratic engagement. By bridging the communication gap between voters and election officials, the ECI aims to foster greater participation and ensure that every eligible citizen's details are accurately reflected in the electoral rolls. This service is expected to be particularly beneficial during the crucial period of the Special Intensive Revision, where verification and updates are paramount.
