The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president, Vinay Kumar, on Wednesday expressed happiness over the victory of party-backed candidates and workers in most areas during the first phase of the panchayati raj institution elections in Himachal Pradesh.
Rural Voter Enthusiasm Highlights Democratic Strength
Kumar said the enthusiastic participation of rural voters in the elections reflected the strength of democracy in the country and showed continued public faith in the Congress party's policies and leadership. He emphasized that the Congress has always worked to strengthen democratic values and added that public opinion in the state was clearly in favour of the party. The trust people reposed in the Congress government is highly significant, and the party is grateful for the support received across the state, said the HPCC chief.
Congress Credits Welfare Schemes for Victory
Targeting the BJP, Kumar claimed that the people of Himachal Pradesh rejected the saffron party. He further said the public support for welfare initiatives undertaken in the state indicated a positive trend for the Congress ahead of next year's assembly elections. The first phase of panchayat polls saw a high voter turnout, which the Congress interprets as a mandate for its pro-people policies.
The HPCC chief also thanked the party workers for their tireless efforts in ensuring the success of Congress candidates. He reiterated that the Congress remains committed to the development and welfare of every section of society in Himachal Pradesh.
