Nashik Civic Polls: NMC Launches Single-Window System for Campaign Permissions
NMC's Single-Window System for Nashik Civic Poll Permissions

In a significant move to streamline the electoral process, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has rolled out a dedicated single-window system for granting campaign-related permissions. This initiative, launched ahead of the crucial civic elections scheduled for January 15, aims to provide a unified and efficient platform for political parties and candidates.

One-Stop Solution for All Election Approvals

The newly established mechanism is designed to consolidate approvals that previously required visits to multiple departments. Now, applicants can obtain all necessary permissions and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from a single point of contact. This system covers a wide array of campaign activities, including:

  • Public rallies, meetings, and corner gatherings
  • Street plays and processions
  • Use of campaign vehicles
  • Display of banners, flags, party symbols, and other materials
  • Distribution of handbills and promotional items like mufflers and caps
  • Permissions related to booth activities

An NMC official confirmed to the Times of India that this step was implemented following direct directives from the State Election Commission (SEC). The primary goals are to inject uniformity and transparency into the permissions process during the high-stakes election period.

Streamlined Oversight and Designated Venues

The single-window system will operate under the supervision of ten returning officers. These officers will be stationed across the city's six divisional offices and the Divya Bhavan facility located in the Mumbai Naka area. Their role is to coordinate and monitor the entire approval workflow, ensuring all campaign activities strictly adhere to the election code of conduct and guidelines.

In addition to simplifying the permission process, the civic body has also pre-designated specific venues for campaign use. The corporation has identified nine grounds and halls for which NOCs will be issued directly through the advertisement and licensing department. This department is situated on the ground floor of the NMC headquarters.

A Call for Compliance and Cooperation

The NMC has issued a clear advisory to all political parties and their candidates contesting in the upcoming polls. They are urged to approach this newly designated department for any permissions or NOCs related to campaign events or for using the identified grounds. This centralized approach is expected to prevent confusion, reduce processing time, and ensure a more coordinated and orderly election campaign across Nashik.

By establishing this single-window clearance system, the Nashik Municipal Corporation demonstrates a proactive effort to facilitate a smooth electoral process. It balances the need for political campaigning with administrative efficiency and regulatory oversight, as mandated by the State Election Commission.
