Former AIADMK minister K A Sengottaiyan surged ahead in the second round of vote counting for the Gobichettipalayam assembly constituency, marking his debut as a candidate for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party. Sengottaiyan, contesting for the first time on the ticket of actor Vijay’s political outfit, secured 7,665 votes.
The DMK candidate N Nallasivam trailed in second place with 5,434 votes, while the AIADMK candidate VB Prabhu polled 4,333 votes. The NTK candidate MK Seethalakshmi remained far behind with just 526 votes.
