Amit Shah urges NE states to fully utilise central funds

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday urged the northeastern states to utilize all budgetary provisions available under various central parameters. Speaking at an event in Shillong, Shah emphasized that through the ‘Rising North East Investment Summit’, all northeastern states can benefit from the establishment of ancillary industries linked to major industrial investments.

Shah stated that the Single Window Clearance mechanism should not remain merely a concept on paper. He stressed that its implementation should be reviewed on a monthly basis by the chief ministers and governors of all northeastern states. This, he said, would ensure transparency and efficiency in clearing investment proposals.

The home minister’s remarks come as part of the central government’s push to accelerate economic growth in the Northeast region. The ‘Rising North East Investment Summit’ aims to attract investments and promote industrial development, creating job opportunities for local youth.

Shah also highlighted the importance of ancillary industries, which can be set up alongside major industrial projects. These industries would not only boost the local economy but also provide a sustainable ecosystem for large-scale investments.

The Union home minister’s appeal underscores the need for proactive governance in the northeastern states. By fully utilizing central funds and streamlining clearance processes, the region can unlock its true economic potential.

This development is significant for states like Meghalaya, Assam, and others in the Northeast, which have often faced challenges in attracting large-scale industrial investments. The monthly review mechanism proposed by Shah is expected to bring accountability and speed up project implementation.
