Bengaluru North City Corp Targets 20 Black Spots Weekly

The Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) has launched a targeted initiative to clean up 20 black spots every week across its jurisdiction. Black spots are areas where garbage is illegally dumped, often becoming chronic waste accumulation points. The drive aims to improve sanitation and reduce health hazards in the northern parts of the city.

Strict Timelines for Waste Collection Crews

As part of the new enforcement, BNCC officials are issuing notices to drivers and helpers of waste collection vehicles who fail to report for duty by 5:30 am. The early morning deadline ensures that waste is collected before peak traffic hours, preventing overflow and littering. Those who repeatedly violate the timing may face penalties or further disciplinary action.

Monitoring and Accountability

The corporation has deployed field inspectors to monitor black spots and waste collection routes. Each week, a list of 20 priority black spots is identified based on complaints and previous reports. Teams are assigned to clear these spots and ensure they remain clean through regular checks. BNCC Commissioner stated, “We are committed to making Bengaluru cleaner. Timely collection and zero tolerance for illegal dumping are our key strategies.”

Impact on Waste Management

This initiative is part of a broader effort to streamline solid waste management in Bengaluru North. The BNCC has also introduced GPS tracking on waste collection vehicles to monitor compliance with schedules. Over the past month, the corporation has cleared more than 100 black spots, with a significant reduction in repeat offenses. Citizens are encouraged to report new black spots via the civic complaint portal.
