Bengaluru's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) form distribution has stalled at 70%, prompting the Greater Bangalore Association (GBA) chief commissioner to call on apartment associations to establish helpdesks. The directive aims to accelerate the distribution and collection of forms before the revision deadline.
Distribution lags behind target
According to GBA officials, only 70% of the targeted households have received SIR forms as of July 11, 2026. The lag is particularly acute in apartment complexes, where coordination with residents has been challenging. The GBA chief commissioner stated, "We need apartment associations to step in and set up helpdesks to ensure every resident gets the form."
Role of apartment associations
Apartment associations are now required to create dedicated counters or helpdesks within their complexes to distribute and collect SIR forms. This measure is expected to streamline the process and reduce the burden on GBA field staff, who have been struggling to reach all households due to access restrictions in gated communities.
Impact on revision process
The SIR forms are critical for updating voter lists and other civic records. The delay could affect the revision schedule, potentially disenfranchising eligible voters. GBA officials emphasized that the helpdesks must operate daily until the deadline, with regular reporting to zonal offices.
Residents who have not yet received the form are urged to contact their apartment management or visit the nearest GBA office. The GBA chief commissioner added, "We are committed to achieving 100% distribution. Cooperation from apartment associations is vital."
