Bokaro Administration Kicks Off Week-Long Mahila Mahotsav for International Women's Day
The Bokaro district administration marked International Women's Day with the grand inauguration of a week-long 'Mahila Mahotsav' at Shibu Soren Smriti Bhavan, commonly known as the Town Hall, on Sunday. This significant event brought together senior district officials and women from diverse sectors to focus on themes of empowerment, safety, and awareness.
Ceremonial Launch and Official Addresses
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of a lamp by key dignitaries, including Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha and Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh, alongside other officials. District Social Welfare Officer Suman Gupta delivered an informative speech on the history and importance of International Women's Day, emphasizing its role in promoting women's rights, equality, and empowerment globally.
Pink Auto Awareness Rath Flagged Off
In a notable initiative, the district administration flagged off a pink auto awareness rath from the Town Hall premises. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha explained that this vehicle will traverse various parts of Bokaro to disseminate crucial information about women's rights, safety measures, and government welfare schemes specifically designed for women. Officials highlighted that this grassroots-level effort aims to foster a safer and more supportive environment for women across the community.
Emphasis on Social Change and Leadership
Addressing the gathering, Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh praised the progress of women, noting their confident strides in fields such as administration, education, healthcare, sports, and business. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha stressed the urgent need for a shift in social mindset, advocating for an end to discrimination between sons and daughters and encouraging women to assume leadership roles in society. He referenced key initiatives like campaigns against child marriage and the Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana, underscoring their goal to strengthen women both socially and economically.
Recognition of Women Achievers
During the event, several women employees and achievers from various departments were honored for their outstanding contributions, adding a celebratory note to the empowerment-focused proceedings. The Mahila Mahotsav is set to continue throughout the week, featuring a series of activities aimed at advancing women's causes in Bokaro.
