Census 2027 Preparations Launch in Hoshiarpur with Comprehensive Training Workshop

Preparations for the upcoming Census 2027 have officially begun in Hoshiarpur, with a two-day training workshop for officials and staff starting on Monday. This initiative marks a significant step forward in the national census exercise, aimed at ensuring accurate data collection for social and economic planning.

Technical Guidance and Digital Framework

Assistant Director of the Census Department, Supriya, provided detailed technical guidance to participants during the workshop. The session was conducted in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Parmpreet Singh, who emphasized the importance of the census as a critical national endeavor.

Officials and staff received comprehensive briefings on the complete census process, with a particular focus on the new digital framework that will be implemented for the first time. This digital system is designed to streamline data collection and improve efficiency in the field.

Key Dates and Procedures for Citizens

Supriya announced that citizens will have the opportunity to use self-enumeration to submit household details online. This option will be available from April 30 to May 14, 2026, allowing residents to participate conveniently from their homes.

The first phase of the census, known as house listing, is scheduled to take place from May 15 to June 13, 2026. During this period, enumerators will visit homes to ask a series of 33 questions, covering various aspects of household information.

Officials Urge Public Cooperation

Assistant Commissioner Parmpreet Singh made a strong appeal to residents, urging them to cooperate fully with census officials. He highlighted that the census provides essential data for planning and development initiatives at both state and national levels.

The success of this exercise depends on the active participation of every citizen, Singh stated, underscoring the collective responsibility in ensuring accurate demographic information.

Wide Participation from Administrative Staff

The training workshop saw attendance from a diverse group of officials, including:

  • SDM Mukerian Jyotsna
  • Deputy Economic and Statistical Adviser Sunita Pal
  • Tehsildars from various regions
  • Municipal staff members

This broad participation reflects the coordinated effort required to execute the census effectively across Hoshiarpur district. The workshop aims to equip all personnel with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle their field-level responsibilities proficiently.

As Census 2027 approaches, these preparatory measures in Hoshiarpur set a precedent for other districts, emphasizing the shift towards digital methodologies and enhanced public engagement in the decadal population count.
