Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Introduces Revolutionary 'One Pass' Smart Parking System

The Municipal Corporation (MC) of Chandigarh has taken a significant leap forward in urban mobility with the official launch of its innovative 'MC One Pass' smart parking system. This comprehensive digital solution was inaugurated on Monday by Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla at the MC parking facility in Sector 22, marking a new era in the city's parking infrastructure.

Comprehensive Coverage Across City Parking Locations

The newly introduced parking pass system offers unprecedented convenience by being valid across all parking sites managed by the civic body. This includes:

  • The surface parking area opposite Elante Mall
  • Parking facilities in Sectors 17, 22, and 35
  • The scenic Lake Parking location
  • The multi-level parking structure in Sector 17
  • All other designated MC parking locations throughout the city

Affordable Monthly Parking Solutions

Under this citizen-friendly digital initiative, monthly parking passes have been priced at Rs 250 for two-wheelers and Rs 500 for four-wheelers. What makes this scheme particularly noteworthy is its inclusion of commercial four-wheelers with yellow number plates, ensuring comprehensive coverage for various vehicle types used by daily commuters and residents alike.

Digital-First Approach and Implementation

Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla emphasized during the inauguration ceremony that the MC One Pass represents a major stride toward modernizing Chandigarh's parking ecosystem. "This initiative provides a seamless, cashless, and fully digital solution that reflects our commitment to smart, transparent, and citizen-centric urban mobility," she stated.

The system, powered in collaboration with Bank of Baroda, eliminates the need for physical office visits. Citizens can conveniently generate their monthly passes by:

  1. Scanning QR codes available on both MC and Bank of Baroda websites
  2. Using QR codes displayed at various parking sites
  3. Accessing QR codes published in newspaper advertisements

Administrative Benefits and Future Expansion

MC Commissioner Amit Kumar highlighted the operational advantages of the new system, noting that it would reduce manual intervention, enhance transparency, and ensure more efficient and organized parking management across Chandigarh. He further revealed that the pass-based parking system would be expanded to additional locations in a phased manner, aiming to create a uniform, hassle-free, and digitally enabled parking experience throughout the city.

Widespread Support and Participation

The launch event witnessed participation from key stakeholders including MC Special Commissioner Pardeep Kumar, Joint Commissioner Dr. Inder Jeet, area councillor Damanpreet Singh, other council members, representatives from traders associations, and senior officials from Bank of Baroda. This collective involvement underscores the broad-based support for this transformative parking initiative that promises to reshape how residents and visitors experience parking in Chandigarh.
