Chandigarh Holds Review Meeting for NAKSHA Pilot Project

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav chaired a crucial review meeting for the NAKSHA pilot project in Chandigarh. The meeting aimed to assess the ongoing progress of field survey and ground-truthing activities across the city.

Key Officials and Agencies Participate

The gathering saw participation from several important stakeholders. Attendees included the Additional Deputy Commissioner, officials from the Survey of India, representatives of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, the National Project Management Unit (NPMU) Delhi, and the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC) Bhopal. The MPSEDC team joined the discussion via video-link, ensuring broad collaboration.

Survey Progress and Current Status

Officials provided a detailed update on the survey's advancement. They reported that Sectors 2 to 17 in Chandigarh encompass approximately 7,000 properties. This total includes both residential and commercial units. Out of these, field teams have already physically visited around 4,500 properties for ground truthing and verification purposes.

Currently, about 20 field teams are deployed daily to conduct the survey. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, the exercise is making steady and consistent progress. Authorities expect to complete the entire pilot project by January 31, 2026.

Deputy Commissioner's Appreciation and Appeal

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav appreciated the dedicated efforts of all involved departments and agencies. He stressed the critical importance of finishing the pilot project on schedule. Yadav emphasized that accurate and reliable property records for Chandigarh depend directly on the successful and timely completion of this survey.

The Chandigarh administration has issued a clear appeal to residents and property owners. They are urging full cooperation with the NAKSHA survey teams. The administration requests that citizens provide necessary ownership and property details whenever asked. This cooperation is essential to ensure the smooth and timely completion of the entire exercise.
