In a significant move to streamline public administration, the Chandigarh administration has given its formal approval to the functional layout and vertical zoning plan for a proposed integrated deputy commissioner office complex. The ambitious project, with an estimated cost of Rs 170 crore, is slated to come up on a plot adjacent to Hotel Shivalikview in the city's central Sector 17.

Modern Administrative Hub Gets Green Light

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav and attended by senior officials from the planning and engineering departments of the UT administration. This marks a crucial step forward in the project's implementation timeline.

Design and Features of the New Complex

The design emphasizes systematic segregation for efficiency, with dedicated zones for public interface, administrative offices, record rooms, and technical service areas.

Officials have confirmed that the building will incorporate state-of-the-art infrastructure. This includes:

  • Advanced safety and fire-fighting systems.
  • Comprehensive emergency evacuation facilities.
  • Various sustainability features to ensure environmental responsibility.

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav highlighted the transformative potential of the project. He stated that the integrated office complex will significantly enhance service delivery, transparency, and interdepartmental coordination. Additionally, it will provide a modern and efficient working environment for officials and staff.

To ensure the project stays on schedule, Yadav has directed all concerned departments to expedite the process of obtaining necessary statutory approvals. The administration is keen on ensuring timely implementation of this major infrastructure initiative, which promises to redefine the public administrative experience in Chandigarh.
