Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday appealed to the public not to engage in panic buying of petrol and diesel, as such behavior disrupts the supply chain. He emphasized that the central government has repeatedly assured that strategic stock is available and being distributed in adequate quantities.
Call for Responsible Consumption
Addressing concerns over fuel availability, Fadnavis compared the situation to a bank run: “If people withdraw all money from a bank in a single day, it is not able to cope as it has deployed money elsewhere. This is a similar situation. Use petrol optimally.” He reiterated that there is no shortage of fuel and urged citizens to avoid unnecessary hoarding.
Government Assurances
The Chief Minister stressed that panic buying creates artificial demand and strains the logistics network. “Panic disrupts the supply chain. There is no shortage,” he said, adding that the government is monitoring the situation closely to ensure smooth distribution across the state.
