Chennai: Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Friday appointed Ku Pa Krishnan as the chairman of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB). The position had remained vacant for an extended period, and the chief minister issued orders appointing Krishnan to lead the board in implementing its various welfare schemes and housing initiatives.
Role of TNUHDB
The TNUHDB is responsible for undertaking housing and resettlement projects for the urban poor across the state of Tamil Nadu. The board plays a crucial role in providing affordable housing and improving living conditions in urban areas.
Ku Pa Krishnan's Background
Krishnan, a former minister from the AIADMK party, contested as a TVK candidate in the Lalgudi constituency during the last assembly election. He was defeated by AIADMK's Leema Rose Martin. Despite his electoral loss, Krishnan has been entrusted with this significant administrative role.
The appointment is expected to bring renewed focus to the board's projects, which aim to address the housing needs of the urban poor. Krishnan's experience in governance and administration is anticipated to benefit the implementation of welfare schemes.
This move by Chief Minister Vijay underscores his commitment to strengthening urban development and ensuring effective leadership in key state boards.
