Chatra Deputy Commissioner Ravi Anand and Superintendent of Police Animesh Naithani carried out an unannounced inspection at the Chatra Divisional Prison early Monday morning to evaluate security measures and inmate living conditions. The jail currently houses over 350 inmates, many of whom are undertrials.

The inspection team examined the functionality of CCTV cameras and instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted surveillance at all sensitive points within the premises. DC Anand emphasized, "The security of the jail and basic facilities for inmates are a priority. Regular inspections will help maintain transparency and accountability." SP Naithani stressed the need for strict vigilance, directing officials to conduct regular patrolling, thoroughly check visitors, and maintain accurate records.
Inmate Welfare and Healthcare
The team assessed various aspects of inmate welfare, including cleanliness of wards, adequacy of lighting and ventilation, supply of safe drinking water, and quality of food. Healthcare facilities were also reviewed, focusing on regular medical check-ups, availability of essential medicines, and emergency preparedness.
