Delhi Jal Board Officials Face Suspension After Minister's Surprise Inspection
In a significant administrative move, Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Verma on Wednesday ordered the immediate suspension of multiple senior revenue officials from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). This decisive action followed a series of unannounced inspections conducted by the minister at DJB offices located in the Rajendra Nagar, Kanhaiya Nagar, and Vihar zones of the capital.
Administrative Shortcomings Prompt Strict Action
The surprise checks revealed several critical shortcomings in the administrative functioning of these zonal offices. As a direct consequence, the Zonal Revenue Officers (ZROs) of all three inspected zones, along with an Assistant Sub Officer (ASO) stationed in Kanhaiya Nagar, were placed under suspension. An official statement clarified that this disciplinary measure was taken in response to repeated public complaints that highlighted systemic issues affecting service delivery.
Residents from these areas had consistently raised serious concerns regarding poor responsiveness from DJB offices, unresolved water supply and billing disputes, and a noticeable lack of accountability at the zonal level. These grievances pointed to delays in grievance redressal, weak supervisory oversight, and various procedural lapses that collectively undermined the efficiency of public service.

Addressing the DJB staff in the wake of the inspections, Minister Parvesh Verma delivered a stern message about the non-negotiable standards expected in public service. He asserted that public offices must operate with unwavering discipline, complete transparency, and a profound sense of responsibility towards the citizens they serve.
"Any lapse in duty or supervision will invite strict and immediate action," Verma emphasized, reinforcing that accountability in public service is paramount and cannot be compromised.
