Vijayawada: Four employees working at the food safety department headquarters in Mangalagiri were suspended for alleged negligence and misconduct in the discharge of their duties on Friday.
The four suspended officials include superintendent D Shirisha and senior assistants G Akhil, Sangeeth Rao and J Sujatha, all attached to the Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM).
Commissioner (medical & health) G Veerapandian issued orders suspending the four officials following the directives of health minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav. According to the commissioner, the action was taken following an inquiry into complaints regarding dereliction of duty.
Senior assistant J Sujatha was suspended for proceeding on unauthorised leave and failing to respond appropriately to issues related to the disbursement of financial benefits to a retired employee. The other three officials were found to have disobeyed instructions from higher authorities and failed to correct their conduct despite repeated warnings.
