Gandhinagar witnessed a crucial meeting on Friday as Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi took charge of reviewing the preparations for the upcoming Bhavnath Mahashivratri fair. The gathering included sadhus, saints, and officials from the Junagadh district administration, focusing on ensuring a smooth and secure event.
Enhanced Security Measures for the Fair
In a significant boost to safety protocols, the number of police personnel deployed for the fair has seen a substantial increase. While approximately 1,600 officers are typically assigned, this year the figure has risen to over 2,900, as confirmed by an official statement. This heightened security presence aims to safeguard the large influx of devotees expected at the foothills of Girnar Hill in Junagadh district, where the fair will be held from February 11 to 15.
Comprehensive Surveillance and Facilities
The administration has implemented extensive CCTV surveillance to monitor the entire fair area, ensuring round-the-clock vigilance. Additionally, arrangements have been made for essential amenities to enhance visitor comfort. These include:
- Organized parking facilities to manage vehicle flow efficiently.
- Traffic management systems to prevent congestion.
- Accommodation options, such as dormitories, for overnight stays.
- Reliable drinking water and sanitation facilities to maintain hygiene standards.
Extended Procession Route for Devotees
Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi emphasized the state government's commitment to providing extensive arrangements for both devotees and ascetics attending the fair. A key highlight is the extension of the traditional procession route for Naga sadhus. Originally spanning 1.5 kilometers, the route has been lengthened by 500 meters, now covering a total of 2 kilometers. This modification allows more devotees to witness the sacred procession, enhancing their spiritual experience during the Mahashivratri celebrations.
The proactive measures underscore Gujarat's dedication to hosting religious events with utmost care and organization, blending tradition with modern safety protocols.
