Gurgaon Authorities Intensify Crackdown on LPG Black Marketing with Major Raid
In a decisive move to curb the illegal trade of cooking gas, a specialized team from the food and civil supplies department executed a targeted raid in Gairatpur Bass, Gurgaon, resulting in the seizure of 64 empty domestic LPG cylinders. This operation underscores the administration's unwavering commitment to eradicating black marketing and ensuring the lawful distribution of essential commodities.
Raid Details and Immediate Actions
Acting on credible intelligence, the enforcement team swiftly descended upon Gairatpur Bass in the Badshahpur area. During the operation, they intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number HR 55 AM 6507, which was found to be transporting the empty Indane-branded cylinders. The driver, identified as Harendra, a resident of Gairatpur Bass, was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the possession of these cylinders, leading to his immediate detention.
The vehicle has been confiscated, and a formal First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged. Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation under relevant legal provisions to uncover any broader networks involved in this illicit activity.
Administration's Stance and Ongoing Measures
District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC) Ashok Rawat emphasized that the commercial use of domestic LPG cylinders is strictly prohibited. "Our primary objective is to guarantee timely access to LPG for eligible consumers and prevent any artificial shortages or black marketing," stated Rawat. He warned that stringent legal action will be taken against violators to deter such practices.
To reinforce these efforts, the district administration has deployed six dedicated teams tasked with conducting daily inspections of gas agencies, warehouses, and suspected locations. This proactive surveillance aims to promptly identify and address any irregularities, ensuring an uninterrupted supply chain for domestic LPG cylinders. Officials have confirmed that there is no current shortage or disruption in supply within the city, with continuous monitoring in coordination with oil marketing companies.
Enhanced Grievance Redressal and Public Appeal
In a bid to strengthen public oversight, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar announced the establishment of a 24x7 control room dedicated to LPG services, located on the second floor of the Mini Secretariat. "This initiative is designed to facilitate prompt cognizance and time-bound resolution of complaints," explained Kumar. Citizens can report issues such as unavailability of cylinders, delivery delays, black marketing, or illegal storage through this channel.
DFSC Rawat further clarified that all complaints received on the control room's landline number, 0124-2868930, will be prioritized for immediate investigation and action. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any instances of overcharging or unlawful storage to enable swift administrative intervention.

The investigating team comprised Assistant Food Supply Officer Vijay Kumar, along with inspectors Gajendra and Inder from the food and civil supplies department.
