Haryana launches online welfare portal for retired CAPF personnel

Haryana has launched a dedicated online welfare portal for retired personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and their families, eliminating the need for repeated visits to government offices to register for schemes and claim benefits. The portal was unveiled on Friday by Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Minister Rao Narbir Singh at Apparel House in Sector 44, Gurugram.

Portal features and beneficiaries

The platform enables former personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Assam Rifles to register online. Families of personnel killed or disabled in the line of duty can also apply for ex gratia assistance, compassionate appointments, and other welfare benefits through the portal.

Officials stated that the initiative consolidates registration and access to welfare schemes onto a single platform, reducing paperwork and the need for multiple visits to government offices. The minister directed officials to conduct a registration drive across villages, ensuring that eligible families do not miss out on benefits due to lack of awareness or non-registration with the department.

Background and government commitment

The Haryana government established a separate Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Department in 2016 to provide dedicated welfare services to armed forces and CAPF personnel and their dependents. At the launch event, war widows from different districts were also honoured. Minister Rao Narbir Singh reiterated the government's commitment to the welfare of personnel who have served in the country's security forces and to supporting their families.

CRPF Kadarpur DIG Parma Sivan noted that Haryana contributes a large number of personnel to the armed forces and CAPFs. He also highlighted the role of the central forces in tackling internal security challenges, including Naxalism.
