Jaishankar Engages with Indian Community in Oman

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met members of the Indian diaspora in Muscat on July 10, 2026, as part of his ongoing multi-nation tour. He praised their role in strengthening ties between India and Oman.

In a post on X, Jaishankar stated, "A good interaction with members of the Indian diaspora in Oman this morning. Their enthusiasm in strengthening India - Oman relations was palpable. Appreciated their many contributions to society as well as to partnership."

Dignitaries Present at the Interaction

Indian Ambassador to Oman, Prashant Pise, and Aseem R Mahajan, Additional Secretary (Gulf), were among those present during the meeting. The event highlighted the close people-to-people links between the two nations.

Jaishankar's Multi-Nation Tour

Jaishankar arrived in Oman earlier on July 10 and was received by Ahmed Al Maskari, Director General of the Omani Foreign Ministry. His official visit to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman spanned from July 5 to 10, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and discussing regional developments.

Before Oman, Jaishankar visited Kuwait on July 9, where he met Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. They discussed the impact of the Gulf conflict and reviewed cooperation in energy, trade, investments, defence, technology, food security, and health. Jaishankar expressed confidence that the India-Kuwait Strategic Partnership would continue to strengthen.

Upcoming Visits to New York and Brussels

Jaishankar is scheduled to visit New York on July 13 to launch India's campaign for a UN Security Council tenure in 2028-29. He will then attend the 3rd India-EU Trade and Technology Council meeting in Brussels on July 14-15, where he will interact with EU and Belgian counterparts.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, these engagements aim to deepen India's global partnerships and address mutual interests.
