Haryana Minister Takes Strict Action in Illegal Tree Felling Case

During a Grievance Redressal Committee meeting held in Sirsa on Friday, Haryana minister Anil Vij directed the suspension of two officials and ordered the registration of a criminal case in connection with illegal tree felling. The meeting addressed a total of 15 complaints, with 11 resolved on the spot and four deferred to the next session.

Inquiry Confirms Excess Tree Cutting in Kaluana Village

Responding to a specific complaint about illegal tree felling in Kaluana village of Sirsa district, Vij revealed that a committee was constituted to investigate the matter. The inquiry report confirmed that 31 trees were felled in excess of the permitted number. Based on the complaint alleging the illegal cutting of 51 trees, Vij took decisive action.

The suspended officials include:

  • The Executive Engineer (XEN) of the Public Health Department
  • The Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Forest Department

Vij emphasized that strict measures were implemented against those found negligent, and a criminal case will be registered against all individuals involved in the illegal activity.

Political Remarks and Development Initiatives

Commenting on the Congress party's allegations regarding the renaming of the MNREGA scheme, Vij stated that the opposition was not against the scheme itself but objected to the term development. He alleged that despite ruling the country for over six decades, the Congress failed to ensure genuine development and wanted people to remain poor and unemployed.

Vij further claimed that the Congress opposed the construction of the Ram Temple, which he said was the reason it could not be built for 60 years. He noted that even after the temple's construction, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi did not visit it.

Taking a dig at former Union minister Brijendra Singh's padayatra, Vij remarked that scriptures state that after completing all stages of life, a person undertakes a pilgrimage, and perhaps that tradition was being followed.

Modernization Plans for Haryana Roadways

Interacting with mediapersons, Vij announced significant upgrades for Haryana's transportation system. He revealed that more than 400 electric buses would soon be inducted into Haryana Roadways, with necessary procedures currently underway.

Key initiatives include:

  1. Mandatory driving tests for drivers of all private buses operating under various government schemes to ensure passenger safety.
  2. Installation of advanced tracking systems in all roadways buses to provide real-time information to passengers.
  3. Digital display boards, similar to those at airports, will be installed at all bus terminals across the state to show bus arrival and departure details.
  4. Development of a dedicated mobile application to enable passengers to track buses live and plan their journeys more efficiently.

These measures aim to enhance the overall commuting experience and promote sustainable transportation in Haryana.
