Hassan District Administration Finalizes Comprehensive Census Preparations
The district administration in Hassan has successfully completed all critical preparatory arrangements for the forthcoming national census, ensuring a smooth and efficient enumeration process across the region. Deputy Commissioner KS Latha Kumari announced that meticulous planning and resource deployment have been finalized to facilitate this massive data collection exercise.
Administrative Training and Human Resource Mobilization
As part of the preliminary groundwork, the administration has appointed 26 officers at the district level to oversee census operations. These officials, along with content managers and technical assistants, have undergone specialized training programs designed to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge.
Deputy Commissioner Kumari detailed the training timeline, stating, "Master trainers received instruction at the Administrative Training Institute in Mysuru from February 24 to 27. Following this, field training for 78 district-level trainers was conducted in two phases between March 16 and 20." This structured approach ensures a well-prepared workforce capable of managing the census effectively.
Census Block Formation and Staff Appointments
The identification and creation of census blocks in both rural and urban areas have been completed, resulting in a total of 4,271 blocks established across Hassan district. To manage this extensive network, the administration has appointed 3,969 enumerators and 734 supervisors, bringing the total staff count to 4,703 individuals dedicated to the census effort.
Special attention is being given to specific areas identified as focus zones. These include Basavanahalli in Sakleshpur taluk and Kanchamaranahalli in Hassan taluk, where enhanced deployment strategies are being implemented. Additionally, the district encompasses 43 Sample Registration System (SRS) villages and 105 slum-like blocks, which are also receiving prioritized resources and monitoring.
Self-Enumeration Process and Citizen Participation
Deputy Commissioner Kumari emphasized that the census is a matter of national pride, providing essential data for the country's development planning. She urged all citizens to participate voluntarily and cooperate fully with government officials during the enumeration process.
Explaining the innovative self-enumeration feature, she noted that the Union Ministry of Home Affairs plans to conduct the 2027 census in two phases. During the initial house listing and housing census phase, self-enumeration will be available for the first 15 days. "Any household member can complete this process in 15 to 20 minutes by providing basic household details," she said.
A self-enumeration ID can be obtained via mobile phone or email, which must be shared with visiting enumerators for verification and final data submission. Kumari appealed to the public, highlighting the simplicity of the process and the importance of widespread participation to ensure accurate and comprehensive data collection.
With these preparations in place, Hassan district is poised to execute a seamless and effective census, contributing valuable insights to national development initiatives.
