Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday reinforced the state government's dedication to balanced and equitable development across all regions of Himachal Pradesh during an interaction with delegations from the Seraj Assembly constituency in Mandi district.
Financial Approval for Key Road Project
The delegations, led by Seraj Block Congress president Jagdish Reddy, presented various developmental concerns to the Chief Minister. In response, Sukhu announced that the state government has approved financial assistance of Rs 137.40 crore for the widening of the 83-kilometre-long Chail Chowk-Janjehli road. This project has been prioritised due to extensive damage caused by recent disasters and the urgent need to strengthen connectivity in Mandi district. The proposal has been submitted under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the upgraded road will significantly accelerate the social and economic development of the region, enhancing access for residents and supporting local commerce.
Enhanced Relief Package for Disaster-Affected Families
Highlighting the government's relief measures, Sukhu stated that an unprecedented special relief package has been introduced. Under this package, compensation for fully damaged houses has been increased from Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 7 lakh. Additionally, financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh has been fixed for partially damaged kutcha and pucca houses. This move aims to provide substantial support to families affected by natural calamities.
Grants for Road Maintenance and Strengthening
The Chief Minister also announced several grants for the maintenance and strengthening of roads in the Seraj constituency. These include Rs 10 lakh for the Nauna-Chhalaila-Vinidhar road, Rs 20 lakh for the Balichowki-Khloa-Sharsh road, and Rs 10 lakh each for the Nauna-Bharari, Khanethi-Khoohan, and Hanogi-Shaloi-Chhamar roads. These investments are expected to improve local infrastructure and ensure safer, more reliable transportation for residents.
