Residents of Jind are grappling with prolonged unscheduled power cuts amid an intense heatwave, with nearly 400 complaints related to electricity disruptions reported over the past two days. As temperatures continue to soar, the power demand in the district has crossed 78 lakh units daily and is expected to touch one crore units in the coming days, according to officials.
Affected Areas and Complaints
Consumers have alleged that electricity supply is not being provided as per the schedule. Several areas in Jind city, including Defence Colony, Gohana Road, Vivekanand Nagar, Housing Board, Urban Estate, and Kaushik Nagar, have witnessed outages lasting four to five hours. Complaints regarding burnt cables, blown fuses, and sparking wires have also increased, with residents reporting delayed responses from repair teams.
Impact on Rural Areas
Power supply to agricultural feeders in rural areas has also been affected, causing difficulties for farmers who rely on electricity to irrigate their fields. Villagers have stated that power lines damaged during recent storms and rain have not been fully repaired even after a week.
Official Response
DHBVN Hisar Superintending Engineer Madan Lal Sukhija attributed the outages to a sudden rise in temperature, technical faults, and overloading. He assured that repair work is being carried out continuously and expressed hope that the supply will stabilize from next Monday.
