Census-2027 Phases
The Census-2027 will be conducted in two distinct phases. In the first phase, which runs from May 1 to May 15, citizens are required to complete self-enumeration digitally. Registration and self-enumeration must be done via the official website https://se.census.gov.in. Following this, from May 16 to June 14, census enumerators will visit households to verify and validate the information provided during self-enumeration. The second phase of the census is scheduled to commence in February 2027, during which actual door-to-door enumeration will be carried out across the state.
Role of Municipal Employees
Approximately 25,000 employees of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are working as enumerators for the census within the BMC area. The civic administration has appealed to all citizens of Mumbai to participate in this crucial exercise, highlighting that accurate census data is vital for effective governance and resource allocation.
Citizens are encouraged to complete their self-enumeration during the first phase to ensure a smooth and efficient census process. The digital self-enumeration option allows residents to provide their information from the comfort of their homes, reducing the need for physical visits by enumerators. The government has assured that all data collected will be kept confidential and used solely for statistical purposes.
