The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has officially commenced the process to appoint eight certified lifeguards for its four swimming pools located across the city. This initiative aims to bolster safety measures and ensure professional supervision at these popular public facilities.

NMC has floated tenders seeking agencies capable of supplying trained lifeguard personnel for a contract period of two years. The lifeguards will be deployed at the following swimming pools: Swatantrya Veer Savarkar swimming pool on Trimbak Road in the Nashik West division, Rajmata Jijau swimming pool in the Nashik Road area, Swami Vivekanand swimming pool, and Satpur swimming pool. Each of these facilities experiences significant daily footfall, particularly during summer months and vacation periods, highlighting the critical need for professional staff to manage safety and operations effectively.
Current Staffing and Financial Implications
Currently, the civic body employs approximately six lifeguards, but there is a recognized need for eight additional personnel to adequately cover all pools. The total estimated cost for outsourcing these lifeguard services is Rs 56 lakh over the two-year contract period. Officials have emphasized that the deployment plan includes both male and female lifeguards to ensure safety and comfort for all swimmers, promoting an inclusive and secure environment.
Tendering Process and Timeline
As part of the tendering process, NMC will conduct a pre-bid meeting on March 20 to address queries from interested agencies. Agencies must submit their bids by April 1, with technical and financial bids scheduled to be opened the following day. This structured approach aims to streamline the selection of qualified agencies capable of meeting the civic body's safety standards and operational requirements.
