New Labour Code Protects Workers' Rights in UP

Lucknow: Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Asim Arun stated on Friday that under the new labour code and the establishment of the 'Outsource Sewa Nigam', stringent regulations have been enacted to ensure holidays, regulate working hours, and guarantee wage payments for employees.

Worker Exploitation No Longer Possible

Speaking at the Workers' Dialogue 2026 held in Lucknow to commemorate International Labour Day, Arun emphasized that worker exploitation will no longer be feasible and that their rights now have legal protection. He urged all departments to issue identity cards to outsourced employees within 15 days and to arrange annual certificates and rewards for outstanding performers.

Additional Welfare Measures

Minister of State for Social Welfare Sanjeev Kumar Gond highlighted that the government is providing workers with facilities such as labour cards and wage hikes. Additionally, Atal Residential Schools have been established in 18 districts for the children of workers.

The event discussed extensive reforms in leave rules and a new wage structure aligned with the new labour codes of the Government of India.

Outsource Corporation to Eliminate Middlemen

The Outsource Corporation, effective from April 1, 2026, aims to eradicate exploitation by middlemen. It has fixed new minimum wages: Rs 11,000 for unskilled workers and Rs 13,500 for skilled workers.
