Noida Bans Late-Night Pool Operations After Complaints of Misuse
Noida Bans Late-Night Pool Operations After Misuse Complaints

The district administration in Noida has imposed a ban on late-night operations of swimming pools across Noida and Greater Noida. According to an advisory issued by the sports department, swimming pools are now prohibited from remaining open beyond 10pm. Activities such as DJ parties, dance events, and other late-night gatherings have also been strictly prohibited.

Reason Behind the Ban

The decision was prompted by multiple complaints from residents regarding the misuse of pool premises. Officials reported instances of alcohol consumption and inappropriate behavior occurring at poolside locations, particularly at clubs and hotels. District sports officer Dr Parwez Ali confirmed that several swimming pools in the district are operated by private schools, universities, residential societies, hotels, and clubs.

"With rising temperatures, footfall at pools increases significantly. We have received a few complaints of instances where people are consuming alcohol poolside late at night, at clubs. While we are yet to verify the complaints, an advisory regarding timings has been issued to ensure safety and prevent misuse," Dr Ali told the Times of India.

New Operational Timings

As per the advisory, swimming pools can now operate only during two specific time slots: from 5:30am to 9:30am in the morning, and from 4pm to 10pm in the evening. This regulation applies to all pools, including those in residential societies, schools, hotels, clubs, and private operators.

So far this year, a total of 198 No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have been issued to swimming pools across the district. These NOCs are subject to compliance with the new norms. Enforcement teams will conduct regular inspections, and strict action will be taken against operators found violating the guidelines, officials added.

The advisory aims to curb misuse and ensure the safety of pool users, especially during the summer months when pool attendance is at its peak. Residents have welcomed the move, expressing relief that the administration is taking steps to address their concerns.
