Noida Residents Demand Urgent Road Repairs After School Bus Incident
Residents of Sector 2 and adjacent areas in Greater Noida West have escalated their concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of a crucial road that connects a private school with multiple high-rise housing societies. This route is heavily trafficked by schoolchildren daily, making its poor state a pressing safety issue.
Safety Hazards and a Critical Incident
The road has become a significant safety hazard due to numerous large potholes, a broken and uneven surface, and persistent waterlogging following rainfall. The situation reached a critical point on April 8 when a school bus became stuck in one of the deep potholes, underscoring the immediate danger to students.
"The incident is a clear and alarming indication of negligence on the part of the authorities," stated Rashmi Pandey, president of the GB Nagar Vikas Samiti, a prominent local social organization. "It is utterly unacceptable that our children's safety is being compromised while the administration appears indifferent to the challenges faced by ordinary citizens."
Persistent Issues and Growing Frustration
According to Himanshu Rajput, vice president of the Samiti, the road suffers from chronic problems that have been ignored for too long. "The stretch is plagued by large potholes, a broken surface, and severe waterlogging," Rajput explained. "Consequently, it poses a grave and ongoing threat to the safety of all commuters, particularly school-going children who use this route every day."
Residents, including those from the Samridhi Grand Avenue society, have expressed mounting frustration and deep concern. The situation is worsened by the improper parking of heavy construction vehicles along the road, which exacerbates traffic disruptions and significantly heightens the risk of accidents.
"We demand immediate and decisive action from the Greater Noida Authority to address these critical issues," emphasized Sanjay Singh, a local resident. "The safety of our community, especially our children, cannot be an afterthought."
Formal Demands to the Authorities
In a formal letter addressed to the CEO of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), Rashmi Pandey has outlined specific and urgent demands. These include:
- Immediate and comprehensive repairs of the entire road surface.
- Prompt filling of all existing potholes to prevent further incidents.
- Effective and permanent solutions for managing waterlogging.
- Strict regulation of heavy vehicle parking to ensure clear and safe passage for residents.
The primary goal of these demands is to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents, with a special focus on protecting children. The community now awaits an official response and concrete action plan from GNIDA regarding this critical infrastructure and safety matter.
