In a remarkable display of grassroots governance, Rayagada district collector Ashutosh Kulkarni embarked on an extensive trek through difficult hilly terrain on Monday to personally inspect the living conditions in some of the most inaccessible villages within the Gudari block.

Accompanied by Gunupur sub-collector Abhishek Dillip Dudhal and a team of dedicated officials, Kulkarni traversed approximately 5 to 7 kilometers of challenging landscape. The journey involved climbing steep hills and crossing natural streams to finally reach the remote settlements of Karlagudi, Rengapadar, and Kepti, all located under the Madhuban panchayat.
This hands-on approach allowed the administration to bypass the limitations of traditional bureaucratic channels and gain firsthand insight into the realities faced by residents in these last-mile villages.

Reviewing the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Collector Kulkarni directed concerned officials to take immediate steps to provide proper road connectivity to all three villages. He further instructed relevant departments to prioritize the consistent supply of drinking water and reliable electricity to the area.
Comprehensive Development Initiatives Launched for Holistic Improvement
The block administration received specific directives to include all eligible families from these villages under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and to issue necessary work orders promptly. The Block Development Officer (BEO) was tasked with raising awareness among villagers to accelerate the construction of houses under this scheme.
Additionally, officials advised the Child Development Project Officer and the BEO to expedite the establishment and effective functioning of Anganwadi centers and schools in the region. This initiative aims to significantly strengthen childcare and educational facilities for the local population.
