The road from Krishi Bhawan traffic light point to Rally Chowk in Panchkula has been closed until July 5, 2026, due to repair work on the CBD line between Sector 12 and Sector 12A, according to an advisory issued by the Panchkula traffic police.
Traffic Disruptions Expected
Ongoing excavation and the deployment of heavy machinery for the repair work are expected to cause significant traffic disruptions in the area. The closure is part of necessary maintenance on the CBD line, which is a key infrastructure component in the region.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, road users are advised to take alternative routes during this period or follow the directions of traffic police personnel deployed on site. The police have urged commuters to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays.
Trial Removal of Barricades at Majri Chowk
In a related development, the police have decided to remove barricades at Majri Chowk on a trial basis daily from 8 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 6 pm. This decision comes after requests from road users and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) who urged senior police officials to consider removing this chokepoint to streamline traffic on the Chandigarh–Shimla National Highway.
Officials stated, “During the trial period, a detailed study of actual traffic conditions will be conducted, after which a long-term strategy will be decided.” The trial aims to assess the impact of removing barricades on traffic flow and safety.
Impact on Commuters
The road closure and the trial at Majri Chowk are expected to affect daily commuters, especially those traveling between Panchkula and Chandigarh or Shimla. The police have deployed additional personnel to manage traffic and guide drivers through alternative routes.
Residents and regular travelers have been advised to stay updated on traffic advisories and cooperate with authorities to minimize inconvenience during the repair period.
