India's ambitious PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is transforming the country's energy landscape at an unprecedented pace. In just two years, the scheme has crossed the milestone of 40 lakh solar-powered households, marking a significant step toward sustainable energy adoption.
Rapid Growth and Application Pipeline
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi announced the achievement on social media, highlighting that over 65 lakh applications are already in the pipeline. The government has set a target to further accelerate the installation of rooftop solar systems across the nation.
Review of Government Building Installations
In a separate meeting chaired by Joshi, officials from multiple ministries and institutions reviewed the progress of rooftop solar installations on government buildings. The minister noted that approximately 80% of the targeted government buildings have been equipped with solar panels, reflecting strong inter-departmental coordination.
The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana aims to provide free electricity to households through solar power, reducing energy costs and promoting clean energy. With the current momentum, India is on track to achieve its renewable energy goals while empowering millions of citizens.
