The district administration of Prayagraj has taken a decisive step to combat the persistent issue of waterlogging that plagues several low-lying areas of the Sangam city during the annual rainy season. In a significant move aimed at providing long-term relief to residents, officials have approved a comprehensive flood and stormwater drainage plan designed to address this recurring civic concern.
High-Level Meeting Leads to Plan Approval
The decision emerged from a divisional-level administrative coordination committee meeting recently chaired by Divisional Commissioner Soumya Agarwal. The gathering included key officials such as District Magistrate Manish Verma, Prayagraj Development Authority Vice-Chairman Rishiraj, and Municipal Commissioner Sai Teja, demonstrating the administration's commitment to resolving this pressing issue.
Technical Details of the Drainage Solution
The approved plan involves the installation of dams, control gates, and pumping stations on major drains in areas that experience severe waterlogging during monsoon months. Officials revealed that the project was meticulously prepared by Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (urban) in coordination with CD&D and the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation.
