Deputy Commissioner Prerna Dixit Champions Comprehensive Development in Gumla
Since assuming her role, Deputy Commissioner Prerna Dixit has spearheaded significant interventions across multiple sectors in Gumla district, focusing on enhancing the well-being of its residents through targeted government schemes and programs.
Addressing Public Grievances and Land Disputes
Recognizing that land disputes and related matters were primary public grievances, Dixit launched 'Anchal Divas' at circle offices of block headquarters every Saturday. Her direct involvement has facilitated the resolution of numerous longstanding land dispute cases, providing much-needed relief to affected individuals and communities.
Enhancing Women and Child Care Facilities
To support women visitors and staff, Dixit established a feeding room-cum-crèche at the district collectorate. This initiative aims to create a more inclusive and supportive environment, ensuring that women can access essential services without hindrance.
Revamping Healthcare and Education Systems
Dixit has taken proactive steps to improve healthcare by deputing officials to conduct weekly inspections at Sadar Hospital. This effort guides the hospital administration in enhancing patient care, food quality, and medicine availability. Additionally, she arranged treatment for two children with eye ailments at a private hospital in Ranchi, demonstrating her commitment to individual health needs.
In education, she introduced mock tests for Class X and XII board examinations and ensured syllabus completion, aiming to boost student performance and preparedness.
Empowering Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs)
Through 'Project Dwaar', Dixit has traveled to remote PVTG habitations to ensure they receive benefits from welfare schemes. Over 500 PVTG women in Dumari block are being trained in mushroom cultivation, promoting economic self-sufficiency. She also launched a program at all anganwadi centers where sevikas and supervisors cut children's nails and comb their hair, emphasizing hygiene and care.
Future Focus on Agriculture and Nutrition
Dixit stated, "The district administration aims to ensure that residents should not face any problem and all government scheme benefits reach them." With agriculture as a key livelihood source, her next focus is on raising farmers' income. The administration is also promoting the consumption of drumstick leaves and finger millet laddoo among anaemic mothers and women to combat nutritional deficiencies.
These initiatives reflect a holistic approach to governance, addressing critical areas from land rights to tribal welfare, with a clear vision for sustainable development in Gumla.
