PVVNL Announces Temporary Shutdown of Online Services for System Maintenance
The online services of Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (PVVNL) will be temporarily unavailable from 5pm on Friday to 9am on Saturday due to essential maintenance and configuration works on the Revenue Management System (RMS). This disruption affects key functionalities such as bill payment, smart meter recharges, bill generation, and other online facilities through the consumer portal and UPPCL app.
Impact on Consumers in Noida and Ghaziabad
PVVNL, which serves Noida, Ghaziabad, and other parts of western Uttar Pradesh, has scheduled this shutdown during the Good Friday and weekend holiday period to minimize inconvenience to consumers. According to a spokesperson from the PVVNL Meerut headquarters, the RMS is an automated digital billing and consumer management system designed to streamline electricity billing, payments, and consumer services. During the maintenance window, customers are advised to use alternative methods or contact the dedicated helpline at 1912 for any urgent assistance.
New Committee for Power Equipment Quality Inspections
In a related development, a committee is being established in Noida to implement a rigorous three-phase inspection process for all power equipment and materials used in projects across Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority area. This initiative aims to ensure the quality and durability of equipment for future power projects. An official from the Yamuna Authority explained that inspections will occur at three critical stages: before leaving the manufacturing facility, at the contractor's storage, and on-site during installation.
Key components under scrutiny include power substations, transformers, streetlights, and underground cabling. Additionally, random checks of completed electrical works will be conducted to identify any negligence or irregularities. A special committee has been formed to oversee this inspection protocol, reinforcing the commitment to maintaining high standards in electricity infrastructure.
This proactive approach by PVVNL and local authorities highlights efforts to enhance service reliability and infrastructure quality in the region.
