Ranchi Implements Strict Safety Protocols for Upcoming Festivals
As Ranchi gears up for the vibrant celebrations of Sarhul and Ram Navami this week, the district administration and the electricity department have rolled out comprehensive safety guidelines to ensure public security during the festivities. A key directive mandates that flags carried in festival processions must not exceed four meters in height, a measure aimed at preventing dangerous encounters with overhead high-tension power lines.
Electricity Department's Proactive Measures
Manmohan Kumar, the General Manager of Jharkhand Bijli Vitaran Nigam Ltd. (JBVNL) for the Ranchi Supply Area Board, emphasized the critical nature of this restriction. "The height of flags used in processions should not exceed this limit to avoid any mishap," Kumar stated on Monday. He reassured the public that there will be no power cuts imposed during the procession hours, ensuring uninterrupted celebrations.
Kumar further detailed additional safety steps: All akharas and organizing committees for Ram Navami have been urged to strictly adhere to the guidelines, with distribution transformers along procession routes being fenced and equipped with safety indicators. Moreover, a dedicated team from the electricity department will accompany each procession to provide real-time supervision and address any electrical hazards promptly.
Administrative and Security Preparations
In a parallel effort, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri chaired a high-level review meeting with senior administrative and police officials to assess preparations for Eid, Sarhul, and Ram Navami. Officials were instructed to identify sensitive and crowded areas, ensuring adequate deployment of police personnel with regular patrolling to maintain order.
Special security arrangements will be implemented along Ram Navami procession routes, Sarna sites, and locations designated for Eid prayers. Authorities have been directed to coordinate closely with organizing committees and conduct thorough inspections of arrangements in advance to preempt any issues.
Enhanced Surveillance and Social Media Vigilance
To bolster security, Bhajantri has mandated the strengthening of surveillance through CCTV cameras and drone monitoring at major intersections and crowded locations. A fully operational control room will facilitate real-time coordination among various agencies, enabling swift responses to any incidents.
Officials have also been tasked with maintaining strict vigilance on social media platforms. Legal action will be taken against individuals found spreading rumors or objectionable content that could disturb communal harmony, underscoring the administration's commitment to peaceful celebrations.
Infrastructure and Traffic Management
Concerned departments have been directed to ensure proper arrangements for sanitation, drinking water, electricity supply, and traffic management throughout the festive period. Police officials have been instructed to remain alert in their respective jurisdictions, with a focus on proactive measures to handle any emergencies.
These comprehensive guidelines reflect Ranchi's proactive approach to balancing festive joy with public safety, aiming to create a secure environment for all residents during the upcoming celebrations.
