The Telangana state cabinet meeting scheduled for Saturday is set to deliberate on a range of crucial issues, including welfare schemes to be launched or announced on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day on June 2. The meeting will also explore ways and means of resource mobilisation in light of the impact of the West Asia conflict on the state's economy. Additionally, the cabinet will consider whether to extend the breakfast scheme to junior colleges across the state.
Austerity Measures and Fiscal Prudence
The cabinet is expected to discuss austerity measures in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for fiscal prudence amid global uncertainties. Sources indicated that the meeting may also address the proposed Private Schools Fee Regulating and Monitoring Bill, paddy procurement and crop diversification, expansion of the Metro rail network, and steps to initiate talks with the Maharashtra government regarding the Tummidihatti project at a height of 150 metres.
Indiramma Housing and Cheyutha Pensions
The cabinet will finalise the number of Indiramma housing units to be sanctioned as part of the launch of Phase II of the scheme in Adilabad on June 2. The meeting is also expected to take a final decision on opening the Cheyutha pensions window for two lakh new applicants.
Chief Minister's Schedule
Before the cabinet meeting at the state secretariat in the evening, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, along with a couple of his cabinet colleagues, will visit Yadagirigutta in the morning. There, the Chief Minister will offer prayers to Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy at the temple and later lay the foundation stone for a Vedic School and other projects before returning to the city.
